Special是由70年代影響德國樂壇至深的印度打擊樂家Ramesh
Shotham，在遊走於眾多樂風後，回到南印度音樂傳統與節奏之根，並以現代音樂與爵士即興提味的跨界音樂計畫。此計畫結合印度與歐洲樂人的音樂概念、韻律與技法，嚴謹中有自由揮灑，是Ramesh
Shotham個人最重要的創作計畫。此計畫網羅了被喻為匈牙利當今最好的現代爵士樂人Zoltan
Lantos，少數能跨印度古典唱腔與流行唱腔的Sandhya
Sanjana。

Ramesh Shotham
出生南印度Madras城的Ramesh
Shotham，70年代在印度家喻戶曉的搖滾樂團Human
Bondage擔任鼓手。70年代中，回到印度南方習傳統鼓樂。80年代，他以特有的搖滾、爵士結合南印度民間鼓樂的節奏，隨著印歐融合的爵士樂組Sagam巡迴歐洲音樂節，從此開始他在歐洲的音樂生涯。在世界音樂潮流還未興起，Ramesh
Shotham便與德國樂團Dissidenten合作，成為跨界融合的拓荒者。Ramesh與Dissidenten的幾張錄音，至今仍是世界音樂界的經典。Ramesh因Dissidenten音樂計畫更受矚目，接著便與重量級的搖滾、爵士樂人合作，巡迴全世界，錄音作品超過120張。
Ramesh
Shotham was born in India,
but has lived in Europe since the early 1980s. As a young
drummer in Chennai (formerly known as Madras) in the early
1970s, Shotham was inspired by rock bands such as the Beatles,
Led Zeppelin, and the Rolling Stones. Later, he discovered
Indian music and spent many years studying under masters
of classical Indian percussion. When he moved to Europe,
he began to find other classical musicians from different
traditions, and to fuse music and melody from all over the
world. Shotham has played at many of the world’s major jazz
festivals, and has toured extensively throughout Europe
and India.

藍多許
Zoltán Lantos
藍多許是匈牙利當代重要的小提琴家與作曲家。出身古典音樂背景，極早就轉向現代與實驗音樂。1985年開始的九年，藍多許往印度學習印度古典樂，這對他後來的演奏音色與多元的音樂計畫發展影響極深。1994年回到布達佩斯後，藍多許重新探索音樂根源，並將深厚的東歐音樂知識與當代歐洲爵士樂風格結合。
Zoltan
Lantos is a classically trained
violinist from Hungary, who was drawn to experimental and
eastern music and spent several years in India studying
classical Indian music. Lantos’ virtuosity, warm sounds
and unique way of improvising on the violin couples with
his knowledge of Indian ragas and contemporary European
jazz. Lantos has shared a stage with various artists from
his native Hungary, as well as from around the world. He
also leads his own highly acclaimed quartet of Hungarian
musicians, and recently appeared in Taipei for a performance
with Mongolian singer Urna.

 Sandhya
Sanjana is an Indian singer,
who lives in Amsterdam and is one of the rare singers who
can bridge various vocal styles and Indian classical music.
Sanjana has performed with Alice Coltrane and appeared recently
at the John Coltrane festival in L.A.

 Christian
Zürner is a self-taught
musician from Bamberg who played piano and drums before
he gravitated to electric bass. His musical experiences
include playing in funk and soul bands and he has been in
recent years the duo partner of the brilliant guitar player
Rainer Hartmann. |
