(Hermann
Hesse)
「DAAU」(Die
In 1992,
four young people with a background in classical music started
making music together in a rather unconventional way. Brothers
Buni Lenski (cello) and Simon Lenski (cello), joined their friends
Han Stubbe (clarinet) and Roel van Camp (accordion) to produce
a dynamic blend of music all their own. Their music combines
the energy and spirit of punk with the virtuosity of classical
musicians, and the dance-ability of folk-music with the variety
of jazz. Add in digital technology, vocals, electronic rhythms
and percussion and you have the unforgettable DAAU (Daaudie
Anarchistische Abendunterhaltung).
The band garnered critical acclaim during successive tours of
Europe, a stint in New York, and the Montreux Jazz Festival.
Along the way, their fans have included Matt Johnson of the
band “The The,” who invited the group to make an interpretation
of his come-back single, and Bjork, whom the band supported
on tour in Italy.
