Bombin’
is Dick Fontaine’s follow-up to his film Beat This!:
A Hip Hop History, a documentary that caught a worldwide
musical and cultural movement in the making. Bombin’
traces the visit of New York graffiti legend Brim Fuentes
and hip-hop innovator Afrika Bambaataa to the UK in 1985.

迪克.方登是第一位正面肯定並詳細紀錄嘻哈文化興起的導演。他的影像風格大膽前衛,並擅長融合紀實與虛構手法,引人入勝。他不滿足只紀錄音樂活動的外表,而更把心力專注於探討音樂背後的文化現象。
方登的披頭四影片《耶!耶!耶!》(Yeah!Yeah!Yeah!)是英國第一部「真實電影」紀錄片,45分鐘的內容裡沒有任何旁白,全程使用手搖鏡頭、特寫畫面、與現場收音技巧,在當年被認為是創舉。他曾拍攝的對象包括貝蒂•卡特,約翰•凱奇,Johnny

Dick
Fontaine is a veteran filmmaker and teacher known for his
innovative ideas and techniques in the documentary genre.
His started his career as producer and researcher for Yeah
Yeah Yeah: New York Meets the Beatles, which captured
the overwhelming phenomenon of 'Beatlemania' in 1964. In
his work, Fontaine has profiled a number of well-known artists,
including jazz musicians Ornette Coleman and Rahasaan Roland
Kirk, avant-garde musician John Cage, punk icon Johnny Rotten,
opera singer Kathleen Battle, jazz diva Betty Carter, and
writers Norman Mailer and James Baldwin.
