來自烏拉圭的Luis Di Matteo出生於1934年，自父親處習得手風琴技巧，年幼時便已登台賣藝。1950年代，他前往阿根廷首府布宜諾斯艾利斯，事師於大師Astor Piazzolla門下。如今已70歲的他，被認為是手風琴界最具開創力的音樂家之一。有別於人們對手風琴音樂的印象總是不離輕薄短小、結構簡單、男歡女愛的刻板印象，Luis Di Matteo編寫許多大編制的弦樂曲，被認為是Astor Piazzolla死後，將手風琴與古典音樂編制結合的最徹底的音樂家。

Luis Di Matteo is a renowned player of the bandoneon, an instrument to similar to the accordion and an essential voice in Argentinean Tango music. Born in Montevideo, Uruguay in 1934, Di Matteo learned the bandoneon from his father and received classical training at the Kollischer Conservatory. Di Matteo moved to Buenes Aires in the late 1950s and met legendary Tango composer Astor Piazolla, eventually performing with his orchestra in later years. A composer in his own right, Di Matteo writes and arranges music for various string ensembles. In 2002, he appeared at the Schleswig Holstein Musikfest in Germany, which cemented his success in Europe as a performer. Di Matteo constantly strives to bring the sound of the bandoneon outside the traditional realm of tango music, and his latest project incorporates electronic sounds with a classical ensemble.
